Morning glories flowers are trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom in the early morning and are admired for their vivid colors, ranging from white or pink to blue and purple. This beauty extends to their origami counterparts, and now you can learn how to fold your own origami morning glory flower!

Fun fact: sweet potatoes (Ipomoea Batatas) are part of the same family as morning glories! (source: Phys.org)

  3. Fold the flower

Make a square base

Step 1

If your paper has two colors, start with the side of the lighter color face up, then make a horizontal valley fold.

Step 2

Unfold, then make a vertical valley fold.

Step 3

Unfold and flip the paper over, then rotate it by 45 degrees. Make a horizontal valley fold.

Step 4

Unfold, then make a vertical valley fold.

Step 5

Unfold and flip the paper over. Bring the corners in and flatten the top and bottom together so it forms a square.

The end result should look like this:

Make a modified bird base

Step 6

Fold the two flaps to near the center (but not exactly).

Step 7

Fold the top down to where its base touches the folds from step 6.

Step 8

Unfold, then lift up the edge indicated by the red circle to make a petal fold.

Step 9

Flip over and repeat steps 6 through 8 for the other side. Rotate the model by 180 degrees so it appears as shown. Now the modified bird base is complete.

Fold the flower

Step 10

Fold up the two petals. The red circle indicates the edge from the previous step that should be folded up.

Step 11

Fold over the petal (see the edge marked by the yellow circle) so that there are now four petals.

Step 12

Fold the left corner to the center.

Step 13

Fold down the top to a little beyond the horizontal crease, then tuck it in behind the fold from the previous step.

Step 14

Like step 11, turn the petal, then repeat steps 12 and 13 for each petal.

The end result should look like this:

Step 15

Curl out the petals a bit and flip the flower over to make a pyramid shape.

Step 16

Twist the stem counterclockwise carefully.

Step 17

Fold the corners of the petals behind the petals.

This is how it should look on the model:
